I loved 1986 when the New York Daily News published a daily magic number update with Davey Johnson pulling a rabbit out of a cap. I wanted something like that for 2015. So my brother made it for me. And now we want to share it with the world.

The Mets beat the Phillies 5-1 but the Cardinals and Giants both won. The worst the Mets can do is have a play-in game against the Cardinals. One more win or Cardinals loss, eliminates St. Louis. So the official magic number is 1.

The Mets beat the Reds 10-2 (thanks to a grand slam from Lucas Duda and a 3-run homer from David Wright) to clinch the NL East title and make the playoffs for the first time since 2006.
